It’s officially MAY tomorrow! This spring is just scooting along and I’m really excited for May with hopefully lots of warmer days and the un-official start to the summer later in the month with Memorial Day! It’s going to be a great month. To wrap up April I am rounding up the bestsellers from this past month. These are the items YOU all loved the most… and you all have great taste 😉 since these are some of my personal favorite items that I purchased this month as well. Let’s take a look…
I am eagerly awaiting dress weather here in Michigan. We are SO close. After a lot of months in sweaters and jeans and leggings, simple and casual dresses are going to be my uniform this summer and I can’t wait. I’ve never been big into dresses, but over the past few years I’ve warmed much more to them. Especially when the dresses are cute and comfortable and don’t feel constrictive. And especially, especially after a year of leggings and being super lazy I’m ready for something a little dressier, but just as comfortable.
Today I rounded up 5 everyday black dresses that are at the top of my “to be worn this summer” list and I think you will love them too. With flattering cuts and soft fabrics these dresses are perfect for everyday wear whether you are chasing kids at the park, running errands, meeting friends for lunch or just hanging out at home.
Today I am rounding up some great gifts for the special ladies in your life this coming Mother’s Day! The moms of the world have REALLY been holding down the fort in life over the past year in a major way. From home schooling, dealing with constant last minutes schedule changes, being the emotional buffer for their kids during a really difficult year, hardly getting a break with limited in person schooling and for many of them doing it all while holding down a full time job too. The moms or mother-figures in your life sure need some extra spoiling this year!
Today I rounded up a few things I love and a few fun splurgy pieces too…. this barefoot dreams blanket has been my favorite lately (I don’t let the kids borrow it!) it’s a splurge but SO worth it. I love a moment of zen with this essential oil diffuser in my room in the evening alongside my favorite cbd (use code: Jill.gottgleason for 15% off your first order!) products right now. Locking myself in the bathroom for some self care has always been a thing, but this past year even more so. I love this citrus body polish and citrus rosemary body oil combo for a fresh from the spa feel at home. These heart pajamas (I own them in stripes) are super soft and lightweight and are perfect for sleep in Saturdays. I’ve got this our place pan on my wishlist since I’ve (regrettably) been doing more cooking lately and realized how old and worn out my pans are. These cute birkenstocks are perfect for gardening since they are waterproof… or just around town because they are super comfortable too. A beautiful leather tote or mama necklace is always a thoughtful gift too. And because it’s been the year of being cozy, why not continue that with a gorgeous robe or pink sweatshirt.
Spring is in the air! I’ve got some gorgeous new arrivals all together today for you and I think you are really going to love them. Pretty much ALL of these are on my wishlist for spring… I’m so ready for warm and sunny days and weekends. You know?
Our weather has been back and forth for weeks now (sad face!) with lots of super cold days mixed in with only a few days of sun and warm. I’m living vicariously through all these warm and sunny picks!
Today I’m sharing a few spring/summer wardrobe staples from J.Crew that I think you will really like. There are quite a few gems here and overall there are just lots of great basics for warmer temps. J.Crew sizing can really be all over the place unfortunately so I made sure to outline all the sizing info below. Let’s take a look at the pieces…
Sizing: I’m between 26/27 in jeans and went with the 27 here. I could’ve maybe gone with the 26 because they are nice and stretchy but the 27 is the perfect size for comfort without being too big. The 9 inch rise is really comfy too. High enough to be flattering but not digging into your stomach.
Sizing: I went down a size since it looked a little big online. I’m in an XS. I would say go with your usual size for a more oversized fit or down a size for a more fitted look.
Thoughts: I love simple basics like this for spring and summer. Layer it now with a jacket or cardigan and wear later on it’s own. The tiny bit of linen gives it a great drapey look that’s casual but looks pulled together.
Sizing: These run big, I went down a size to XS. Also keep in mind they are more of a high waist fit. I first had them more slouchy on my hips and they looked weird. They fit best right at the waist.
Thoughts: I had a few of you recommend these to me after sharing the similar linen shorts. Some of you are die hard fans of these pants. I never like the way woven pants look on me – I don’t know if it’s in my head or valid. I think these are very comfortable but fit a little weird for me in the thigh. These are a great alternative to shorts for warm outside events though. Linen is great for warm days!
The cotton/cashmere sweatshirt fits true to size and oversized a bit. I tried both a small (my true size) and medium. In the end I kept the medium because I want a nice comfy, cozy oversized fit. Either works.
The linen shorts run big. I went down a size to XS. I have these in two other colors (navy & olive green) and found that they stretch a tiny bit after wearing them so you don’t want them too big.
Thoughts: This sweatshirt is SO good, I wore it straight out of the box. It’s perfectly lightweight for spring days, cool summer nights or chilly days at the beach. This is such an instant classic – I’m already wanting it in more colors. The shorts are a total classic, like I mentioned I already have them in two other colors. They are great for everyday summer wear or as a swim cover up too.
Sizing: Runs a little big. I went down a size to XS. Fits great.
Thoughts: I absolutely love simple tank dresses like this. This dress is perfect for around the house, over swim, for date night, with the kids at the park, you name it! If you aren’t into black there are some other gorgeous colors too. I can’t recommend this enough!
I’ve been wearing this utility jacket from Everlane on repeat. I love that the color isn’t the usual army green color, this is more of a rusty brown. It’s a color that is surprisingly easy to style and I love that it’s a breath of fresh air in my closet. I’m in my usual size small here, which is maybe a touch oversized. If you are between sizes you could size down or if you wanted it a bit for fitted you could also go down a size. It’s lightweight and unlined but is the perfect weight for spring.
I’ve found it’s so easy to throw over almost any outfit and today I’ve got six ways to style it that I think you will love…
Need some spring outfit ideas!?!? Today I pulled together some outfit combos that I am loving/craving these days. Layers are key since the weather here in Michigan is all over the place. Let’s take a look at the outfits…
