These joggers have been a bestseller all month. I just LOVE them and wear them a lot and they were featured in the October Capsule as well. I’ve gotten lots of inquiries on more ways to style them. Today I’ve got some really fun and easy outfit ideas with joggers for fall. Todays outfits are some simple ways to dress up your joggers a little. I’m all for making pulled together looks very comfortable, so these looks are the perfect balance.
I love these joggers because they are super flattering, they fit a little more like a legging up top with some compression. And then they are nice and slim through the leg and the fabric doesn’t easily bag out in the knees which I really appreciate. I went down a size in these joggers. I’m in the size x-small.

I love this preppy look. Joggers with a casual button front top and sneakers are a great mom on the go look. It’s made to be more casual with the sleeves cuffed and sweater thrown over the shoulders.
Elevated athleisure is one of my favorite styles to wear. This sweater/sweatshirt combo with a jacket and sneakers is great for moms on the go or attending sporting events. It’s pulled together but super comfortable.
I love throwing a long jacket over joggers because it’s instantly dressed up without really any effort. I paired it with a cashmere sweater which layers so well for warm layers when the days get colder.
I love a half zip sweater, which are so trendy right now, with a lightweight jacket. I actually just wore a similar combo to my sons soccer game recently and it was perfect as the sun was setting to keep warm. It’s a great combo.
I’ve said it a bunch, but nothing beats Madewell for fall and winter. I just LOVE their cozy sweaters and gorgeous fall hues. They do this season SO well. Right now you can get 20% off your order of $100 or 30% off your order of $200 or more on select items. I always love to shop a sale from Madewell – it’s definitely the best time to buy!
I found some really beautiful fall pieces that I can’t wait to share with you… sweater weather has definitely arrived in my neck of the woods so I’m excited to dig in with some of these new arrivals.
Sizing: I went with my usual size small. It’s definitely a more shrunken fit. If you prefer a more oversized fit I would suggest going up a size.
Thoughts: This sweater is SO beautiful in person. WOW. The details are just stunning. The sweater is grey with small flecks of color making it extremely unique. This sweater is so “fall” to me and for some reason makes me think of Thanksgiving. Wouldn’t this be gorgeous for Thanksgiving?
Sizing: True to size, I went with my usual size small. If you wanted a more oversized fit, you could go up one size.
Thoughts: This mockneck with the knitted v-neck pattern is a popular one this year. I have a similar one from Everlane that I love – although the Madewell version is a better price. This sweater is stretchy and cozy and and instant classic.
Sizing: Runs a little oversized. I’m wearing my usual size small.
Thoughts: This top is GORGEOUS in person. It’s a super thick t-shirt material that has really great structure while still being very comfortable and easy to wear. It’s featured in my October Capsule if you want more inspiration on how to style it.
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small. You could go up a size for more room too.
Thoughts: I just LOVE this sweatshirt. I own the same one in grey from a few seasons ago. It’s a great classic. This brown is so pretty and on trend for fall, it’s also featured in my October Capsule if you want more ideas on how to style it. It also has POCKETS which, duh, is amazing!

After a few false starts, sweater season is officially, officially here in the Midwest! It’s cozy season and I’m loving wearing all the sweaters right now. Warm drinks, cozy sweaters, the fireplace going and crunching leaves are just a few of the reasons I adore this season. Today I’m partnering with Walmart to chat about all the hottest trends for sweaters this fall. From statement knits to on trend styles Walmart is your go-to source for a fall refresh.
The polo-style sweater is a really fun trend this fall. It’s such a fun nod to the 90’s while being modern and easy to wear at the same time. This one works with jeans for everyday wear or could be dressed up with trousers for the office or a zoom call. You know I can’t resist stripes any time of year and they are perfectly classic for fall. I love this brown and white striped sweater. It’s so soft and has a tiny little puff sleeve that is right on trend this fall. And of course I just love a chunky knit this time of year. This collared cardigan is so pretty in person and the color is just beautiful for fall. All three of these sweaters are under $30 making them so affordable too!
This fall, make Walmart your go-to for all your fashion and household needs. I love the convenience of their FREE 2-day shipping (and free returns) on orders over $35 or the FREE curbside pick up which is especially handy for groceries and household goods.
Today’s post is a super fun one… we are talking COLD weather. And while I am one that doesn’t love cold weather, I do have to say… I’m here for cold weather fashion. Haha! Scarves and hats and boots and coats are some of my favorite pieces to shop for and when the cold weather strikes you really want to make sure you have the right clothing for it. After living in the midwest for my whole life and snowy Michigan for over half my life I’ve gotten pretty good at layers and keeping warm.
I thought it would be fun today pull together some cold weather inspiration a little early for those of you that might be booking cold weather travel. Wine tasting, leaf peeping, trips to the mountains or even a little early start on ski season is popular this time of year and I’ve got three looks perfect for those activities. Or if you just want to get an early start on winter shopping… that works too!
Stay tuned later this week for some travel inspiration for warm weather climates as well. Since that is also a very popular way to escape in the fall too…
I am in LOVE with these boots! This look is perfect for a road trip to see leaves and stop at some of your favorite sights. I would wear this for a leaf peeping trip in Northern Michigan with a stop at our favorite brewery or lunch spot!
Wine tasting in the fall is so fun here in Michigan and I’m sure in other popular wine localities around the country. Or if you even brewery tours/stops. I love that this look is a little more dressed up but perfect for staying comfortable and warm.
Layers are key when the cold weather strikes! This look is perfect for antiquing and brunching with friends in the mountains.
It’s the Shopbop BUY MORE, SAVE MORE SALE! This sale only comes around two times a year and it’s a great time to stock up on classic wardrobe staples that never go on sale. In years past I’ve invested in some great basics during this sale and these are the pieces that I own and love seemingly forever. While Shopbop has tons of fun super trendy pieces too, I always try to focus on the evergreen pieces that will work for multiple seasons and many years. Some of my long time favorites that are in the sale this year are these jeans (I wear them the most out of all the pairs I own), these loafers, and this sweater (pricey, but I’ve had mine for like 4 years!). I also get so many compliments on these sunglasses (great price!) and these jeans are so classic.
Ahhhh, sweater season! My favorite season! I recently tried a few new sweaters from J.Crew… they are GORGEOUS and so fun for fall and I’m excited to share them here today. I will note that each option does have a percentage of wool in them, I am not sensitive to wool so I didn’t find them to be itchy at all. If you are sensitive to wool, just know that before you shop. Again, I didn’t find any of them to be uncomfortable or itchy but I know some of you are super sensitive to it.
All these sweaters are so beautiful for fall and I just love how perfectly ‘J.Crew’ they are – so wearable, so classic! Let’s take a look…
Sizing: I went with my usual size small.
Thoughts: The half zip sweaters is a super popular style this fall and I love that it’s both right on trend while still being super classic. It works with jeans or joggers (a great athleisure combo!) and I love how it layers with jackets too (shown below).
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small.
Thoughts: This is an instant classic! Super soft and stretchy and I just love a good turtleneck for fall and winter. This one is available in SO many colors so there are lots of fun options and I love the boxy cut.
Sizing: I went with my usual size small.
Thoughts: This piece is SO beautiful in person. It’s a gorgeous dusty grey with a tiny little pleat at the shoulders for a feminine cut. This sweater is super soft and stretchy and while I usually go for more oversized sweaters I found this one to be perfectly fitted.
Sizing: I went with my usual size small and while I love the puff sleeves I think the torso is a little to fitted. I would have preferred a medium.
Thoughts: I adore the puff sleeves here, but the sizing on this one is off for me. It’s just too tight at my abdomen/stomach area. I prefer something that hides that spot a little more for me. But I love this color and the sleeves are just adorable.
Today I am answering a super popular reader question about jeans and ankle boots! Everyone LOVES ankle boots for fall and winter and when they first reached popularity the jean du jour was skinny jeans… but fast forward to today and the jean styles are all over the place! There is a lot of unchartered territory with jeans and ankle boots these days. I’ve been getting so many questions about what jeans you can wear with ankle boots now that there are SO many styles. From skinny to straight leg to slim leg – what works??
I tried on my new suede ankle boots with some of my most favorite jeans recently to do some hardcore research into what jeans work with ankle boots this fall. I myself wasn’t even sure how this little experiment would work – it’s all new territory for me too! So here are my unofficial/official research results. I tried ankle boots with 5 of my most favorite pairs of jeans and are you ready for it!?!? The results are in: there is NO WRONG WAY to wear ankle boots with jeans this fall. I think ALL styles and silhouettes work. Truly!
I will say some jean and ankle boot combos were more to my liking, but none of them looked ‘bad’ really. I liked them all! A few pairs got a tiny cuff at the bottom so they didn’t rub on the boot, but some pairs I just let fall on the boot too. So really… my advice: try lots of looks to get a feel for what you like, but in the end… there are no rules to what works and what doesn’t!
Here are 5 pairs of jeans I would wear with these ankle boots… I’m 5’4 for reference.
Skinny jeans are still a great option with ankle boots. Instead of tucking in the hem to the boots I like them a little less ‘perfect’ looking with the hem bumping the top of the boots a bit. It’s not too styled and a little more modern look than how we used to tuck the jeans in. Note: I cut the hem on these jeans back when I originally bought them, the raw hem hits right above my ankle bone for reference.
This is the ultimate modern look right now. Mom jeans are still very much on trend and worn with ankle boots it’s a modern and trendy look that is not a stretch at all to pull off. Paired with a button front top gives it a fun 90’s nod.
My fall wishlist is getting a little out of control, there are SO many new pieces I am really loving for fall. I thought I would bring you along on my window shopping today. From feminine blouses and dresses, to classic jeans and shoes to cozy sweaters and coats… I’m loving these pieces so much. It feels so good to have some cooler weather and to be ‘getting dressed’ again. You know?
I hope your October is off to a great start… it’s definitely felt more like fall where I live and I’m loving it. September was all about fall clothes on the blog and today I am rounding up the pieces that were YOUR favorite this month. It’s time for another bestsellers round up…
These were the pieces you loved the most and I must say, you all have the best taste! Some of my favorite jeans, coats and fall pieces were some of your favorites too! Let’s take a look at the pieces…
For the second month in a row, this jacket is a best seller! It’s SO cute and I’ve only worn it once so far (I have a feeling that will change later this month) and loved how comfortable and warm it was. I went down one size to an XS. You can see more jackets for fall inthis post!
This gorgeous sweater blazer was a big favorite this past month. It’s super cozy and works great as a jacket too. I went down one size to an XS since this blazer does run quite big. You can see more blazers for fall in this post
This pair of jeans is so fun for fall with a slight flare at the hem. They have great stretch that is very comfortable while being flattering too. Because of the stretch I go with my smaller size for this pair of jeans. You can see more Madewell favorites in this post.
This is an old post, but these joggers have been featured a few times here on the blog recently and also in my October Capsule which you can find here. They never stretch out and are the most flattering joggers I own, my husband calls them my ‘cute pants’. I went down a size in these joggers to an XS.
Everyone loves a cardigan for fall! Me included! This one was super popular this month and I can see why. It’s very soft and the buttons are so pretty. I went with my usual size small for this piece. You can see more of my Madewell favorites inthis post.
Today I’ve got some gorgeous fall finds from J.Crew Factory… these pieces are all SO classic, I think you will really love them. And I have to say this is my first time putting on a scarf in a while and wow, it sure was cozy! Doesn’t exactly make me excited for colder weather, but it softens the blow at least a little. I hope you love these J.Crew Factory finds…
Sizing: This piece runs big, I went down a size to XS.
Thoughts: This piece is just gorgeous in person. It’s more cardigan than blazer in my opinion, but still looks very refined and pulled together. The fabric is soft (no itch) and looks structured while still being drapey and beautiful. I highly recommend this piece!
Sizing: Runs big and fits long. I went down a size to XS. Perfect length with leggings.
Thoughts: J.Crew Factory had this piece last year and I ordered it and it was huge and sent it back and never re-ordered. It’s such a classic that I couldn’t resist picking it up this year. It’s the perfect off-duty sweatshirt with jeans or leggings or joggers. I love the button detail on the neck and it’s available in lots of colors.
Thoughts: I just LOVE both of these. The scarf is so classic for fall and winter and I love this color way which is so unique for plaid scarves. This scarf is available in lots of patterns too, so if you wanted a more traditional plaid you can definitely find it! I love wearing headbands but so many of mine are for spring and summer. I love that this one is neutral and perfect for fall!
I just LOVE these socks… I’m a little bit of a fanatic about them. They always sell out super quickly each season so I like to grab a few pairs early. J.Crew has a similar version that are usually thicker, but I love this more mid-weight option too. They are perfect for chilly evenings around the house and are a must have when I wear winter boots for cold and snowy weather. They make great gifts for the holiday season too!
I’ve linked more items I found and loved at J.Crew Factory here…
